Hello,
My name is Ayoub and I joined the DTETI for my Master’s thesis project. Coming all the way from
Belgium to a country where I didn’t speak the local language was a huge step for me, especially
since I am naturally quite a shy and quiet person.
However, any shyness I had disappeared the moment I arrived. My supervisor, Rizky Azkario
Pratama, along with some students, were incredibly welcoming and immediately put me at
ease. They showed genuine patience, helping me adapt to the new academic environment and
helping me improve my professional English every day.
Socially, the kindness of the people in Yogyakarta is real, it is not a myth, haha. Even though I
was thousands of miles away from home, the warm environment made it very simple to connect
with both local peers and other international students. Living in Jogja was an amazing
experience; the city has a unique, relaxed energy that makes you feel part of the community
instantly.
I am leaving Indonesia not only with a completed thesis but with much more confidence, great
friends, and unforgettable memories of exploring Java.
