What does Betty think
about research at UGM?
The international internship was conducted from January to May 2026 at Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with École de l’Air et de l’Espace, France. The project focused on integrating artificial intelligence into autonomous aerial surveillance, including UAV simulation in Webots, YOLOv8-based object detection, autonomous decision-making, and SHAP-based explainability. The internship resulted in a proof-of-concept system integrating perception, decision-making, and explainability for autonomous drone surveillance.
For 5 months, I worked in the robotic lab on a research subject supervised by Dr. Ataka. My subject focused on implementing AI on drones to supervise surveillance missions. This study has been a very interesting step into robotic simulation, and entirely led in python language.
